Through our Connect: Creative Learning program, we invite you and your students to be immersed in a range of events and activities that connect young people to ideas, develop and celebrate their creativity and foster a life-long love of the arts.

FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

CREATIVE WEEKENDER

Back again in 2023, Creative Weekender is a FREE 2-day art-camp for students in Years 9 – 12. Apply to the Dance, Creative Writing, Performance Art or Hip Hop steams, and spend two mad days at The Blue Room Theatre with Festival artists and creative peers being immersed in all things creative.

YOUNG VOICES

Our future leaders are a vital voice in our sector, and Perth Festival wants to make sure we hear them. Our Young Voices cohort are ten exciting artists & arts workers from across Perth who will connect with the Festival for a year, accessing performances and behind-the-scenes conversations and to help shape their state Festival.

The Creative Learning program for schools at Perth Festival includes a range of live in-theatre performances, events and exhibitions that are accompanied by activities such as artist talks, demonstrations and Q&As. TEACHER PD DAY

Our day of cutting-edge arts-based professional development is back again on February 24, with six 90-minute workshops for Secondary School teachers on offer. Can’t get leave, or not based in Perth? No worries! All the sessions will be recorded, edited, and released digitally in Term 2 for further access.

Teachers are choreographers, directors, production managers, designers, stage managers, and more, all rolled into one. We’ve paired three of our 2023 performances with a Saturday morning technical theatre workshop aimed at Secondary School performance teachers to help you learn practical skills to use in your school productions.

The craft of writing and storytelling is something that serves us our whole life long. Hear from Australian authors from our Writers Weekend program on topics created for Secondary English students in a free, moderated panel conversation beamed directly into your classrooms on Tuesday afternoons during the Festival.
